EcoTop Surfaces -

Green, durable, and stylish, EcoTop is the new recycled paper/wood and bamboo countertop product from the award-winning green product creator, Joel Klippert, founder of PaperStone. In 2007 Joel decided to leave the PaperStone team to pursue an even greener product, due to the fact that when using recycled paper content the fibers are very short, resulting in the need for a higher usage of resin. EcoTop is made with bamboo fiber, which can be very long, thus eradicating the need for toxic resins in high volumes. Using bamboo fiber allows for the use of strictly water based resins, which are substantially more eco friendly than the alternative. The longer bamboo fibers also make the product highly scratch and stain resistant with water absorption of less than one percent.

EcoTop is comprised of 50% FSC certified recycled wood and paper, and 50% bamboo, and the resin used to bind it is 100% water base, zero Voc, and petroleum free. EcoTop is UV stable, and therefore will not fade or change with exposure to sunlight. It is not necessary to seal EcoTop, but the company does offer an all natural organic Soy Oil, Palm Oil & carnuba wax finish. EcoTop maintains its color and density throughout so any scratches can be simply sanded out. EcoTop does not harbor bacteria.

Available in slabs that are 3/4″ or 1″ thick in 30″ or 60″ widths by 12′, EcoTop is also very easy to work with and install, all that the DIY installer would need are basic wood working tools. Klippert states that EcoTop is the only solid surface product that a DIYer can install while still maintaining the 10 year warranty.

This is a very versatile product whose applications range from countertops and tabletops to floors and walls anywhere in the household. Due to the use of a water based resin, EcoTop is available in a wide range of colors or even customized to fit specific color needs.
